An initiative of the Woodford Show Society, the Betty Baker Memorial Trophy was established in 2014 to honour the life and accomplishments of this remarkable lady.
For over three decades, Bob and Betty Baker operated the highly successful Wundaburra Droughtmaster Stud at Mt Archer near Woodford. A schoolteacher and librarian by profession, Betty was also the author of a number of children literary works. However, it was Betty’s passion and dedication for the Droughtmaster breed that most of us will remember.
Betty was devoted to her Droughtmasters and worked tirelessly to promote the breed. It was this devotion, coupled with Betty’s generous and selfless work within her local community that resulted in the Woodford Show Society establishing a memorial trophy in her honour. The trophy is awarded annually to the Supreme Champion Droughtmaster Female at the Woodford Show.
The 2018 Betty Baker Memorial Trophy was awarded to Nindethana Innika who was paraded with her calf, Nindethana Kahula. It was indeed, a great honour to receive this trophy in memory of Betty who was, and will always be remembered as an extraordinary woman and a dear friend.
