2017 Show Results

Royal Queensland Show

We exhibited nine entries (plus two calves) the 2017 Royal Queensland Show, which was a record number of Ekka exhibits for our stud!! The standard of the competition in the Droughtmaster ring was extraordinary and we were both thrilled and honoured to secure a number of placings and one of the championship ribbons on offer.

Nindethana Impact (RSVP Jackpot/Nindethana Flo), at just 11 months of age, was awarded Reserve Junior Champion Bull. Nindethana Henrietta AI (Ivanhoe Force/High Country Champagne) secured a first place in her class (Female 22 – 24 months), Nindethana Innika (RSVP Jackpot/ Talfield Felicia) placed second in her class (Female under 12 months) and Nindethana Harry (Jembrae Glenowie/ Haigslea Harriett) placed third in his class (Bull 22 – 24 mths).

We paraded two groups in the Progeny Stakes class. Our team of youngsters (Impact, Innika and Indira) representing sire, RSVP Jackpot placed second, and our second team (Hannibul, Giselle, and Fontine plus their two calves) representing sire, Bryvonlea Malachi placed third.

Congratulations to all other exhibitors, especially Glenlands Droughtmaster Stud which secured the bulk of the championship awards that were on offer, and deservedly so.

SAMFORD SHOW

NINDETHANA claimed the INTERBREED TRIFECA at our local SAMFORD SHOW last weekend, winning Supreme Interbreed Bull and Supreme Exhibit of the Show with Nindethana Hannibul; Supreme Interbreed Female with Nindethana Giselle; and 1st place in the Interbreed Exhibitor’s Group.

Hannibul (Bryvonlea Malachi / Wundaburra Miribel) was earlier sashed Senior and Grand Champion Tropical Bull and Giselle (Bryvonlea Malachi / Karragarra Fronde), Senior and Grand Champion Tropical Female.Hannibul, Giselle (with calf, Juliette) and Iyla then made up our winning Interbreed Exhibitor’s Group.

It was certainly a humbling experience to claim all three championships, and especially so on home turf.

We took a team of 11 including two calves (our entire 2017 Ekka team). All exhibits placed in their respective classes, with broad ribbons being awarded to three other team members.
Nindethana Impact (RSVP Jackpot / Nindethana Flo) was awarded Junior Champion Tropical Bull; Nindethana Innika (RSVP Jackpot / Talfield Felicia) was sashed Junior Champion Tropical Female; and Nindethana Iyla (Glenlands Newton / Nindethana Fontine), Reserve Junior Champion Tropical Female.

WOODFORD SHOW

We took a team of 12 (10 exhibits and two calves) to the WOODFORD SHOW and enjoyed a couple of lovely days with fellow Droughtmaster breeders and like-minded friends. The team performed well, with nine of the ten exhibits placing in their respective classes, and two bringing home broad ribbons.

The RSVP Jackpot calves continue on their winning streak, with Nindethana Impact placing second in his class (Bull under 12 months) and Nindethana Innika winning her class (Female under 12 months) before going on to be sashed Junior Champion Heifer. New team member, Nindethana Indira, also a Jackpot calf out of RSVP Dixie Chick, placed second to Innika which was a great effort given how little experience this little 7 month-old calf has had.

The thrill of the day was without a doubt, Nindethana Fontine (Bryvonlea Malachi/Karragarra Fronde), the team matron, being awarded Reserve Senior Champion Female with her little bull calf Jean (Calaanah Abraham) at foot. At 45 months of age, this gentle natured sweetheart is now in her 4th year as a member of our team. Even though she doesn’t pick up too many ribbons, she loves going to shows and I love having her there. This latest win has secured her a place in our 2017 Ekka team which will be her 4th, and last, Ekka.

Other awards included: Harry (2nd Bull over 18 mths); Hannibul (2nd Bull 15 to 18 mths); Giselle (2nd Female 24 to 30 mths); Henrietta (1st Female 18 to 24 mths); and Iyla (2nd Female 12 to 15 mths).

Congratulations to other exhibitors, especially RSVP & Sylvan Springs Droughtmasters who claimed the Supreme Interbreed Champion Bull and Amavale Droughtmasters who were awarded Supreme Interbreed Champion Female and Supreme Exhibit of the Show with their beautiful cow, Lara. Lara was also awarded the Betty Baker Memorial Trophy; a great honour indeed.

MALENY SHOW

We took a team of ten exhibits to the Malaney Show where eight of the ten exhibits secured a placing in their respective class, and five brought home broad ribbons!!

Organisers reported that it was one of their biggest showing of stud beef cattle to date, with over 120 exhibits across several beef breeds. Six Droughtmaster studs were represented in what was a very strong line-up in the tropical breeds section paraded before Judge Matt Conroy.

High accolades went to our senior team member NINDETHANA GISELLE (Karragarra Fronde/Bryvonlea Malachi), who was awarded the Supreme Champion Interbreed Female after winning Senior Champion and Grand Champion Tropical Female.

Other successful team members included:
IYLA (Nindethana Fontine/Glenlands Newton) – 1st (Female 12–18 mths) and Junior Champion Tropical Female

HARRY (Haigslea Harriett/Jembrae Glenowie) – 2nd (Bull 18-24 mths)

Nindethana also placed 1st in the Interbreed Exhibitor’s Group with Hannibul, Giselle (and calf, Juliette) and Iyla winning the Frank Woods Memorial Trophy.

Congratulations to other exhibitors, especially Waringle Droughtmasters who claimed Supreme Champion Interbreed Bull and Supreme Champion Exhibit of the Show.

KILCOY SHOW

We exhibited at KILCOY SHOW again this year. The sheds were full to capacity and the atmosphere was vibrant. It was pleasing to see the Droughtmaster breed was well represented with 37 individual Droughtmaster exhibits from eight Droughtmaster studs competing in what was a very solid tropical breeds section.

Kilcoy theme their stud beef cattle program each year and the theme for 2017 was ‘Industry for Today and Tomorrow’, celebrated by a special class involving a pair of animals, one junior and one senior, bred by the exhibitor. It was certainly an impressive sight to see the ring packed to capacity with multiple pairs of animals representing so many differed beef cattle breeds. No doubt a challenging task for the judges!

Nindethana paraded 11 head, which included nine individual exhibits and two calves (the truck was certainly full). We were absolutely thrilled that eight of our nine exhibits were awarded places in their respective classes, with four of them going on win broad ribbons.

Nindethana Giselle was our star of the day, returning to the show ring with her 2 month old heifer calf Juliette, Giselle won Senior Champion Tropical Female and then went on to be sashed Supreme Champion Tropical Female.

Perhaps the most thrilling achievement was to place first in the Interbreed Exhibitors Group (11 individual groups) with Hannibul, Giselle (plus Juliette) and Iyla and to then back it up with winning the 2017 ‘Industry for Today and Tomorrow’ special class with Hannibul and Giselle (over 20 groups).
Other winners included:
Nindethana Hannibul: Reserve Junior Champion Tropical Bull
Nindethana Harry: Reserve Senior Champion Tropical Bull
Nindethana Giselle: Senior Champion and Supreme Champion Tropical Female
Nindethand Henrietta: Reserve Champion Tropical Female
Nindethana Fontine: 2nd (Cow 24 mths and under 48 mths)
Nindethana Innika : 2nd (Female under 12 months)
Nindethana Impact: 2nd (Bull under 12 months)
Nindethana Iyla: 2nd (Female 12 mths and under 18 mths)

Congratulations to all other exhibitors, especially Greg and Linda Nugent of Carnudge Droughtmasters whose senior bull was awarded the Kilcoy Rural Stud Beef Champion.

FUTURITY 2017

We kicked off our show season with the Annual DROUGHTMASTER FUTURITY SHOW at Gatton. There were 127 individual exhibits from 33 Droughmaster studs paraded before Judge Steve Farmer and Associate Judge Lauren Finger. We were thrilled with how our young team preformed, and humbled by their success in what was an extraordinary line up of quality Droughtmasters.

Nindethana Impact (RSVP Jackpot) secured a first place in his class (Bull under 7 months – 13 entries) and then went on to be awarded Calf Champion Bull.
Nindethana Innika (RSVP Jackpot) placed first in her class (Heifer under 7 months – 8 entries) with her stable mate, Nindethana Issie (Bryvonlea Malachi) securing third place in the same class.
Nindethana Iyla (Glenlands Newton) placed second in her class (Heifer 13 and under 16 months – 20 entries).
It was also a great thrill to be awarded second place in the Breeders group (15 entries) with our young team comprising: Iyla; Impact and Innika.

Congratulations to our two paraders, Lawrence who secured first place in the Open Parader, and Lily who placed third in the same class.

Congratulations to fellow exhibitors and thank you to the sponsors, organisers, stewards and judges, without whom these events would not be possible.
